The spotted bass (Micropterus punctulatus), also called spotty, or spots in various fishing communities, is a species of freshwater fish of the sunfish family. One of the black basses, it is native to the Mississippi River basin and across the Gulf states, from central Texas through the Florida panhandle.
Professional Angler Cody Meyer is one of the only anglers on tour to have a world record!!! Cody "Mr. Spotopatomous" caught a 10.80-pound spotted bass Dec. 16, 2016, from Bullards Bar reservoir, a famed spotted bass fishery in northern California.
